Juvenile & Domestic Law is a broad topic covering a plethora of different cases and charges. In Virginia, a juvenile is any person under 18 years of age. The Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court hears all matters involving juveniles and adults under certain circumstances. Adults charged with committing felonies against children or family or household members are brought into Juvenile Court after arrest for a Preliminary Hearing. This hearing is held to determine if there is probable cause to to believe the accused adult committed the felony. If probable cause is found, the case is transferred to Circuit Court.
